THE OTHER SIDE
Comparing the two series of photos is an interesting exercise in changing your perception of something you see every single day. While I was inside I was frustrated with the lighting, but when I was outside my focus changed from my camera to my surroundings. I found outside I had more to work with, despite there being a maintenance van parked in the middle of our yard. One of the questions asked in the book was, “if I’m intimidated by taking photos in public”. I thought I would answer that question “no”, however, I did alter my plans for that day to avoid running into the maintenance workers. I had planned initially to walk around outside, but when I was limited to the area of just my patio it was fun to attempt to find things to capture just sitting on my patio.
In the gallery above you’ll find photos that were taken specifically for the 21 Days of Mindful Photography, along with 3 photos I had taken back in May of this year from my patio with a similar outcome: a changed perception of the view I see every single day. From inside to outside; from spring to autumn.
